All the "Days" of Summer

I am not sure if it is just the area I live in, but it seems that just about every city has some sort of "Days" going on this summer. Here we have South Ogden Days, Old Glory Days, Raspberry Days, and Farmington Festival Days, to name a few. There seem to be so many that I was going to try to find one for every weekend of the summer. That would provide lots of family fun and keep everyone out 'n about. However, there were a few weekends that, sadly were forgotten.

Festivals can get expensive if you plan to buy dinner or lunch and ride all the rides. However, if you are careful and take a few minutes to plan ahead these festivals can be fairly inexpensive and very fun. Look at the links below or the city's web site for events that take place that are free. Tell your kids about those events, so they are excited ahead of time to try them, hopefully this will decrease some of the whinny, "Can we pleeeease go on the rides over there?".  Also pack your own food sometimes you can take it on the grounds and other times you might have to eat in the car. If the family has already eaten it decreases the chances of impulse food buying.  When you head to your festival bring only the amount of money you plan to spend. Then when it is gone you are not tempted to pull out other cash or swipe the card.

This year we are planning on going to Washington Terrace Days. We plan to attend the parade and enjoy dinner at our house with some friends. Then we will go to the park where all the events take place. The kids are excited to jump on the free bouncy houses, see the Monster truck, and collect prizes during the "Mad Dash". The highlight of the night however, will be the Watermelon Derby. My kids are going to decorate a watermelon and roll it down a giant hill and see if it makes it to the bottom in one piece. Maybe we will win, maybe not, but it is guaranteed to be fun. The night will be topped off with fireworks. All that fun and all we have to pay for is a watermelon.

If you want to check out some of the "Days" of Summer and explore the fun your family can have check out my list below or look up the events calender on your city's, or a neighboring city's web site. Enjoy the "Days" of summer and get out 'n about.
